19 June 2023 @ 20:00 - 21:30 EEST
Revolution is not a one time event - The case of Solidarity Committee for the support of the 12-year-old girl survivor of child rape and trafficking in Kolonos, Athens.
Rescheduled from 15th June
Trigger warning: Child sexual abuse/ rape/ trafficking context
Focusing on characteristics of NTIZEZA, such as locality, cooperation, urgency and relationship building, and in the context of the program ‘Revolution is not a one time event’ at TAVROS organisation, Anastasia Diavasti, hostess of NTIZEZA, invites for an open discussion Tatiana Chalikia, member of the Solidarity Committee for the support of the 12-year-old girl survivor of child rape and trafficking in Kolonos, Athens. Tatiana is a school teacher and long-time resident of Kolonos.
The Committee was formed in January 2023, after the first open call of the People's Assembly of Kolonos, Sepolia and Akadimia-Platonos, to which feminist collectives, workers' unions and individuals responded. For the last five months, the Committee has been meeting regularly, with the aim of organising actions for the economic, psychological and judicial support for the 12-year-old and her family, as well as exposing aspects of the case that are silenced by the mainstream media.
How can solidarity be organised and maintained, during times when far-right practices are consistently gaining ground in our society? What are the difficulties the committee is facing at the moment? Which tools of feminist histories can we find useful in this case?
Revolution is not a one time event* is a three-month public program that reflects our deep held belief that gathering people together can bring unexpected, potentially unimaginable shifts and changes. The program, an experiment in form and format, that spans from spring to early summer 2023 at TAVROS, will honor the ongoing struggles of small-scale, dare we say, revolutionary, inter-generational feminist practices in Greece and beyond.
