SUMMARY:Spork Sound-Kitchen: Sorrel Soup
DESCRIPTION:Spork is a sound art duo of Vytautas Bikauskas and Bailey Polkinghorne. They explore relationships between food and sound in communal cooking\, serving\, and eating. The kitchen soundscape is amplified\, extended and translated with sensors\, surface microphones\, and motorised utensils. For this performance Spork is making and sounding a sorrel soup – a traditional Eastern-European spring and summer dish. Sorrels are often foraged from the local landscape and their sour taste calls for a shared ladle-full.
